OUR CHARITY PARTNERS
One of the main incentives of BritBears is to provide further support to our chosen charities; charities that work tirelessly to raise awareness of sexual health and mental health within the LGBT community.
All proceeds from our memberships, events and fundraising are invested back into the the club or donated to the charities that we support.
The aims are to:
- Contribute to the end of HIV transmissions and improve sexual health
- Support people living with and affected by HIV and poor sexual health
- Ensure that the voices of people affected by HIV are heard.
Terrence Higgins Trust do this by supporting people living with HIV and ensure their voices are heard, providing testing services for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and helping the people using our services to achieve good sexual health.
As well as provide services, Terrence Higgins Trust campaign on issues from relationships and sex education in schools to the proper funding of HIV services.
Terrence Higgins Trust also run community projects such as Positive Voices, which supports people living with HIV to tell their own stories, and Work Positive, which helps people living with HIV into employment. And on behalf of Public Health England, they lead It Starts With Me, the national HIV prevention programme.
MindOut is a mental health service run by and for lesbians, gay men, bisexual, trans, and queer people. MindOut work to improve the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ communities and to make mental health a community concern.
